HED's Stinger 9 FR is the product of extensive wind-tunnel prototyping and it not only outperforms spoked wheels shallower than 90mm but it even beats wheels deeper than 90mm with lower drag at all angles. Plus it also gives the rim a bigger window of aerodynamic effectiveness. HED's 90mm-deep carbon hoop is shaped to balance vertical compliance, impact resistance, and crosswind stability as well. It's also quite stiff laterally for pinpoint descending control and responsive accelerations. And, it's laced to a HED Carbon FR Sonic hub that cuts weight with a carbon hub shell and a titanium quick release. From the Ironman to road racing, the Stinger 9 gives you the winning edge you need.
HED's FR wheels (FR stands for Flamme Rouge - the red pennant that marks the final kilometer of pro road races), are HED's ultimate version of each of their wheelsets. If they can save weight or watts, they do it on their FR wheels. With lighter rims and hubs, higher quality bearings, titanium quick-release skewers and hub hardware, HED's FR wheels are simply the best in their class.
HED's Stability Control Technology (SCT) means that the wheel is tuned for optimum handling according to the rim depth. This ensures that even in crosswinds you enjoy precision handling and a significant aero advantage.
Rider weight limit: 210 pounds
This wheel requires a tubular (sew-up) tire.
HED Stinger wheels are designed for use with 22mm or wider tires. Aerodynamically this is the fastest setup and it provides the required impact resistance. Using a tire less than 22mm wide voids HED's warranty. Riders weighing 180 to 210 pounds should run 24mm or wider tires. The minimum/maximum tire pressure for Stingers is 120/135psi. Thank you!
